Digital support for schools during the pandemic
Undoubtedly the Coronavirus pandemic has had a massive impact on the school setting, most prominently to students who did not have access to laptops or computers whilst learning from home. At Schools’ Buying Club, our mission is to help schools spend more money in the classroom in any way possible. As such, we donated laptops to the Stanley Grove Primary Academy.
Stanley Grove Primary Academy is a larger than average school serving the Longsight area of Manchester. Of the 695 pupils attending Stanley Grove, many did not have access to a digital device to use at home. The school was given some laptops from the government and bought additional devices to loan to families. Although the families were proud that there was now a device in every home, some children still struggled to access remote learning. This is because the one laptop was shared by siblings or a parent working from home.
Amy Footman, Head of School commented, “Generous gifting of laptops from companies such as Schools’ Buying Club allowed us to make sure that no child was without the technology they needed to learn effectively whilst at home. Making sure that children did not miss out on quality teaching during partial school closures was only possible when families had access to a device and the internet. We are very grateful of all the support offered to prevent the pupils at Stanley Grove suffer further disadvantage during the pandemic.”
