Get to know your Client Manager
Schools’ Buying Club has gone regional!
We have listened to feedback direct from our clients and understand that schools and Trusts are looking for regional hands-on support and guidance before, during and after the procurement process. That’s why we have designed a service that focuses on local support with a dedicated regional team, to help save money and create greater efficiencies.
Meet Tom Stephenson your Client Manager for London and the South East.
Tom has worked client facing in number of multinationals before moving into the education sector. He is passionate about financially improving schools and Trusts and finding them better value in their contracts and procurement approach.
Tom answered some questions you might be interested in:
What excites you most about working in the education sector?
It’s a very rewarding sector and one that is very much open to innovation and new ways of thinking. Working within education feels very worthwhile and the constantly changing landscape keeps it fresh and exciting.
What key changes have you seen in the sector over the last few years?
There has been a number of policy changes/U-turns which has caused everyone to be more adaptable and up to date. Even within the procurement process there are frequently new guidelines and methods that we have to be aware of.
What is the biggest challenge you see your clients face and how do you help them overcome it?
The biggest challenge I have seen my clients deal with has obviously been the COVID fly in the ointment. We have provided a lot of ad-hoc advice on problems caused by the pandemic given it’s been neigh on impossible for suppliers to uphold normal contractual obligations. Good and clear communication is always the answer!
In your opinion, what ensures a successful procurement process?
How long is a piece of string? There is no one right approach but these key things can ensure a successful process: good communication, integrity of data and a clear timeline that is agreed upfront.
In an ever-changing environment why are Schools’ Buying Club’s services so important?
The answer is in the question. In an ever-changing environment it is so important to have the most up to date advice and guidance. We can deliver that, and we even have a free Procurement Helpline to answer all questions, no matter how big or small. Whatever contract or category is being looked at, we will have a solution for you.
What is the main benefit of working with Schools’ Buying Club?
I think the main benefit of working with Schools’ Buying Club is the efficiency and the time you will save. We manage the process end to end for you and do all the heavy lifting. We can also provide ongoing contract management support.
